Resolve Capture Screen Freezing on iPhone

iPhone 12 Pros running iOS 15.0 or higher may experience a problem with the capture screen freezing upon opening on-screen guides and attempting to capture a photo. While the RxPhoto team works toward a solution, there are two options to resolve the problem.

Option 1: Turn Off 2X Zoom

Not using the iPhone zoom option will resolve the capture screen freezing. This may be done by turning off the Default 2X Zoom in Settings, or by toggling back to 1X zoom within the on-screen guide every time.

Turn Off Default 2X Zoom in Settings

1. Log in to RxPhoto on the iPhone.

2. Press on the gear icon in the upper left corner to access Settings.

3. Toggle Viewfinder Default 2X Zoom to the off position.

If choosing to toggle the 2X Zoom off in the on-screen guide, this must be done every time an on-screen guide is opened to capture a photo. 

1. Open the on-screen guide.

2. Tap the yellow 2X in the bottom of the screen to toggle back to 1X zoom.

Option 2: Turn Off Picture-in-Picture (PiP) Mode on iPhone

Turning off the picture-in-picture (PiP) function on the iPhone also resolves the Capture screen freezing. Picture-in-picture is what allows the iPhone to run a picture while simultaneously using a separate app. For instance, in the example below, a YouTube video is playing while the user is simultaneously viewing a website:

1. Navigate to iPhone's Settings > General > Picture-in-Picture (PiP).

2. Toggle PiP to the off position.
